[We got a new couch! For the first time in three years, I have a couch that is not technically a loveseat! I can lay completely flat and not even touch both ends! Clearly, I'm in love.]
And even though we were still working, I still wanted to do something that made me feel like I was making the most of my day at home. That meant tackling this situation:
I know, I know. That's not how you should keep your jewelry. [I mean, there are statement necklaces hung up on a clothes hanger to the right.] In my defense, this is much worse than it normally is (just don't verify that), it was an offense against my love of organization, and all of the truly valuable pieces are kept safe and sound and separate.
That was a lame defense.
Anyway, my dilemma is that I want to be able to see my jewelry, which automatically rules out most boxes. I was drooling over this, but it's more expensive than a lot of what it would be storing, and that seemed off to me. After scouring the internets, Pinterest finally pointed me to this. Problem solved! Will asked if it might not look like a pile of jewelry still:
And the answer is: a little bit. But a very pretty pile where nothing is actually touching or getting knotted and I can see it all and remember some pretty fantastic things I own*.
*And for anyone concerned, my special pieces are still kept separately in a nice little padded box. Meaning mothers and grandmothers don't need to call and check up on anything that's been handed down...I promise it's ok.
